Interior Design

Interior Design

Interior design is a practice that's concerned with anything that is found inside a space. This includes walls, windows, textures, light, furnishings and furniture. All of these are used by interior designers to develop a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment for a building's user.

The interior designer draws upon many skills including architecture, product design, environmental psychology and traditional decoration (aesthetics and cosmetics). They plan the spaces of almost every type of building including: hotels, schools, hospitals, homes, shopping malls, restaurants, and airport terminals. Today interior designers must be attuned to architectural detailing including: floor plans, home renovations, and construction codes.
