Economics

As an economist you could be involved in researching and analysing information related to the functioning of the economy. Then, on the basis of the evidence that you produce, and your analysis of it, your organisation can develop strategies and policies accordingly. Obtaining a degree in Economics means that you will have demonstrated skills such as good communication, numeracy and verbal reasoning, the ability to present your ideas clearly, and the ability to analyse data accurately and reliably.
To really develop your career in this area you will most likely need a postgraduate degree before being offered a post as a professional economist.  The scope is wide – from government organisations to manufacturing to consultancy. Although your employment is likely to be within the finance sector, as an economist you will have valuable transferrable skills that could be very effective in areas such as the media, administration or retail management.
